Safeguarding
Keeping young people safe.
Everyone who uses Youth Enterprise GrowthLink has the right to be safe from harm, exploitation and abuse. This is our commitment, and how to tell us if something is wrong.

If someone is in immediate danger, contact the police straight away by going to your nearest police station or its Victim Support Unit. For a child at risk, call Childline Zambia on 116. For gender-based violence, call 933. Both lines are free.
Our commitment
Growth Link works with young people, many of them under 25 and some under 18. We will:
- put the safety and wellbeing of young people first in everything we do;
- treat everyone with respect, whatever their gender, background, disability or beliefs;
- expect our staff, volunteers, mentors and partners to follow our code of conduct;
- respond quickly, fairly and confidentially to every concern, and never punish anyone for raising one in good faith.
What our team will never do
- Ask for money, gifts or favours of any kind, including sexual favours, in exchange for support, training, mentoring or finance.
- Ask for your password, PIN or mobile money details.
- Ask to meet you alone in a private place, or contact you in ways that make you uncomfortable.
- Share your personal information without a lawful reason.
If anyone claiming to represent Youth Enterprise GrowthLink does any of these things, please report it to us.
How to report a concern
- Contact us. Email youthenterprise.growthlink@gmail.com or call +260 979 886 250. You can report about yourself or someone else, and you do not need proof.
- Tell us what you can. What happened, when and where, who was involved, and how we can reach you safely. You can ask to stay anonymous, though that may limit what we can do.
- We act on it. We treat safeguarding reports as a priority. We aim to respond within 24 hours, share information only with those who need it to keep people safe, and refer serious matters to the police or other authorities where needed.
Online safety tips
- Be cautious of offers of funding, jobs or contracts that ask you to pay first.
- Meet new business contacts in public places, and tell someone you trust where you are going.
- Keep your Youth Enterprise GrowthLink password private, and sign out on shared phones or computers.
